Career Connect

This month's Career Connect was a special one focused on our armed forces. Students met with active members of our military and also had the opportunity to speak with local veterans about their time in the service. Some of our own graduates were present to share their experiences and how the military has benefitted their life. Thank you to all the men and women who served and took the time to come speak to our students!!! A special thank you to VFW Post 6382 of Hallettsville for representing your branches!

HHS held their third Career Connect of the year focused on jobs in agriculture, veterinary science, fabrication, horticulture, and technical skills. Students listened as professionals from these fields shared their educational journey and job experiences. Thank you to all the professionals (former HHS graduates!) who came to speak to our students.

On October 18, HHS students interested in the Health Sciences or Human Services field had the opportunity to speak to professionals in these areas to learn about their educational journey and career experiences. Over 35 students attended and gained valuable information to help guide their journey in these various areas. Professionals and businesses represented included left to right: Shannon Flores (HISD Athletic Trainer), Brittany Keller (Ultrasound/Radiology Tech- LMC), Lauren Pasak & Katie Broom (Texas Elite Therapy- Speech Pathologists), Paula Grahmann (Pharmacist-Hallettsville Pharmacy), Kelly Haas (Physician Assistant- Hometown Wellness Clinic), Amanda Kurtz (Physician Assistant- TruSkin Dermatology), Holly Haas (Family Nurse Practitioner- Yoakum Community Hospital). Thank you to all the professionals who took the time out of their busy schedules to speak to our students!

HHS hosted their first "Career Connect" of the year on September 20. Community members in the business, marketing, finance, and hospitality professions were invited to share their educational journey and provide advice to students interested in these specific fields. Students were given the opportunity to ask questions and make connections to help them discern their future careers. This year HHS will host a Career Connect each month focused on one of the fourteen CTE Programs of Study. Next month's Career Connect will be on October 18 focused on Human Services and Health Sciences.

A huge thank you to the following professionals for taking time out of their day to visit with our students!
